Mizmor L’eli: Eliyahu Schleifer Anthology

Description

Description: Precious few in the Jewish music world have earned the universal respect of colleagues and academics from across the denominational spectrum. Cantor Eliyahu Schleifer has earned this respect and is truly beloved by the generations of cantors who honor him as a consummate teacher and cherished mentor. Cantor Schleifer’s vast and unmatched mastery of his field is felt throughout his compositions. In a Schleifer piece, adherence to traditional nusach and uncompromising textual precision finds expression in a blend of congregational melody and cantorial beauty. In Mizmor L’Eli: Eliyahu Schleifer Anthology, tuneful melodies for communal prayer are presented alongside contemporary art song. The Jewish year’s most majestic and holy moments are given their rightful musical treatments with grand solo and piano works (also appropriate for concert usage). A full accompanying recording, convenient indexes, and song histories (with fascinating insight from the composer) are included to help you integrate into your repertoire the music of a modern master.
