New Didactic Approach to the Double Bass

Description

Text in Italian and English. At a time when bassists are increasingly turning from method books, Ricordi has expressed its continuing confidence by publishing its first new bass method since that of Isaia Billè (seven volumes, 1922). The first part of the book alternates between new positions and new techniques, a commendable approach. Also particualrly praiseworthy is the careful teaching of a specific shifting technique using what Galamian called ‘guide notes’…This method is a valuable tool for a traditional private teacher open to selected newer pedagogical ideas.–American String Teacher
